ORQUESTA DEL DESIERTO - S/T (2002)

Alfredo Hernandez of Kyuss/QOTSA fame joins Mario Lali for an inspired set. Excellent album, but it is not the meaty slab of stoner rock you'd expect from a band with such a name and lineup. This is a beautiful acoustic affair. Thanks to Big Jack at G.O.M.E. for the link.

This also raises the question, how many classic albums can one drummer play on? Consider that Hernandez, for being virtually unknown to the masses, has now played on Kyuss' "Welcome to Sky Valley" & "And the Circus Leaves Town", QOTSA's self-titled first release, Ché's "Sounds of Liberation", this album, among others. The next logical step is for him to join Led Zeppelin on drums for their upcoming world tour or replace Ginger Baker for a Cream reunion.
