SONRISA SALVAJE

At some point in 1985-86, David Lee Roth had 2 putrid epiphanies: first, he convinced himself that he was the main source of talent behind the mega-success of Van Halen and that he would set out to prove it by going solo; and second, he read somewhere that a large majority of new Latino immigrants were in the 18-27 age range and he figured they'd be hungry for some Gringo-accented, Spanish-butchering rock.

I'll be the first to say that some of the songs in the regular English version are jaw-droppingly good - thanks to the Vai/Sheehan/Bissonette lineup - but this has to go down as one of the most unsuccessful - and unintentionally funny - crossover attempts ever.

This is a must-have for pure historical reasons.

Those who forget the past are bound to repeat its mistakes. Are you listening Chris Daughtry?
Leave my precious Spanish alone, you bald fag.
